Friday, September 24th, 2010

Now it’s a time to go back and discuss our main course topic of blog which is about Logo Designing and in this regards I have selected to share some thoughts on Animal Logos. Logo is the first element which is represented to the outer world as your identity. When ever we think of doing business so logo is the first thing which pops up in mind. It is important to design the logo of the company according to your products and brands. To make your logo attractive you need to put some extra efforts and unique and creative logos are always appreciated and accepted by firms.
When it comes to talk about animal logos so it is observed that in past only those organizations opt for animal logos those are related to animals, but however in 21st century this concept has been completely transformed and we can see some big companies having animal as their identity. All these things depend upon the creativity of the designers like how they represent your brand. Before you see the showcase just name few of companies which have animal in their logo design.

Let me tell you few names like Ferrari, Puma, Jaguar, Twitter etc.  A designer uses different approaches to impress the customers and using animal in logo designing is one out of them. You can see Company Logos Portfolio and enjoy more logo designs. Now without taking much time of my readers I will show you few examples here:

First is the usage of Horse in Logos:

Ferrari

This is one of the most famous logo of car manufacturing company and it is Italian based firm. t was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as Scuderia Ferrari. The company is well known for its participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has attained great success. If you have noticed the logo so you can see horse with yellow background. The purpose of having yellow in background is to make the appearance of prancing horse prominent.

Porsche

The complete name of this company is Porsche Automobil Holding SE and it is Germany based company. Porsche logo is that of the coat of arms of the city of Stuttgart which was built on the site of a stud farm. So, the horse logo was an obvious choice. The antlers and the red and black stripes are part of the arms of the Kingdom of Wurttemberg. Creativity is the main element in this logo as you can see the image above.
Next is the Leaping Cat and I got some great examples in this regard.

PUMA

Puma is a German-based multinational company, producing world-class sportswear and athletic shoes. Rudolf Dassler, along with his younger brother Adolf Dassler owned the company Adidas. The logo is very interesting and the leaping puma is keep moving in this logo which means that it is positive in nature. The black color is used to make the impact sober and decent. This brand is for all and especially for those who don’t like much bright colors. The puma gives strong image to the brand.

Jaguar

The Jaguar logo was seen for the first time in 1935 and was used on a new car model. This logo has a Jaguar leaping diagonally over the company’s name. It signifies the speed and power of the car’s performance.

Apart from that here are other examples of animal logo designs:

Lamborghini

Lacoste

Mozilla Firefox

Bacardi

Twitter

Dove

The Cow

Polo

WWF

BurBerry

Abercrombie & Fitch

Roots

That’s all for today and I am sure you have liked them as I did. I personally believe that by using animals and birds in your logo it gives a chance to your company to grow more and flourish because people can recognizes such elements and secondly they have some connection and relation with such identities. These things are positive and I would suggest all new upcoming graphic designers that when they are designing any company logo makes sure that they do use some unique approach as the competition here is very tough.

I love this collection. I am doing my thesis on animals in graphic design. If anyone could comment on these questions that would be amazing. Thanks!

Would you be more attracted to buy from a company that had an animal logo? Why?

And do you prefer it when animals display human qualities (such as The Laughing Cow above) or when they are depicted more in their true form?
