Weekly Round Up: ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011

 I am back with another weekly round up of ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2011and this time I have a lot to share and to tell my readers. As you know this is the third week of world cup going the total number of matches played so far in this season of World cup is 17 till 3rd March’2011.  Last time I have talked about results of the first week of matches and now in this post let’s start with the match of 25th Feb’2011 that was played between Australia VS New Zealand. The match was interesting in the beginning but gradually Kiwis loss the grip over Aussies and they took the charge of the match and made an easy victory. Australia won by 7 wickets. Another match on that day was played between Bangladesh and Ireland. Though the Bangli’s were favorite for that match and they did that and made their nation proud by defeating Irish by 27 runs.

Next was the big match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan and that match in Sri Lanka and they were considered to be the favorite of that match but due to hard work of Pakistani Cricket team players and the great bowling by Pakistan’s captain, Shahid Afridi picked up five wickets against Kenya and would like continue with his good form against the good players of spin that Lankan team possesses. They got tremendous victory. Pakistan set a total of 277 for the loss of 7 wickets and restricted Lankans on 266/9 in 50 overs. Pakistan won by 11 runs.

On 27th Feb’2011 another crucial match was played between India and England and that was full of thrilling and scoring match ad India made 337 and put pressure on English team but what a surprised we got when England came in to bat and their skipper made a magnificent century and made match exciting for viewers. The result of the match was a TIE and that was very much shocking for cricket fans of India as they were expecting a win from their team.

West Indies Vs Netherland: Kemar Roach’s first hattric of ICC World cup 2011 and Sammy was pleased with his team’s performance and minced words that exuded confidence in their abilities. Borren, on the other hand, acknowledged the fact that they were outplayed. He said, “The guys didn’t turn up today after a decent performance against England.”

Zimbabwe made an easy victory over Canadian. Zimbabwe beat Canada by 175 runs. Tatenda Taibu, who hit a 98, was declared man of the match. Sri Lanka beat Kenya by 9 wickets. In the end Sangakara and Tharanga got the winning runs for the team as Sri Lanka team won the match by 9 wickets. South Africa clash with Netherlands and S.A bowled out Ducth on 120 runs. One of the oldest teams in cricket, England, was reduced to biting the dust in the World Cup match by the beginner Ireland, in which Kevin O’Brien scored the fastest-ever World Cup century.

Kevin O’Brien reached a 3-figure score off just 50 balls, and was declared the Man Of The Match. Ireland won the match by 3 wickets.

Last night was one of the most thrilling matches played between Pakistan and Canada and Canadian bowlers surprised the Pakistani’s batsman and they were unable to score a big total and all out on 184. Canada were pretty confident to win the match as it was the low target BUT AFRIDI, again, Pakistan skipper did it and made a clean sweep for his team and took five wickets in haul in World Cup History.
