Travel, Tourism and Holiday Logos
Logo design plays a crucial role in the travel and tourism industry just as they do in other industries that cater to individual consumers. Dramatic improvement in travel over the last century has ushered in a sharp decline in the number of hours needed to travel and more comfort and convenience while traveling.
The decline in the costs involved in traveling and the way tourist resorts have sprung up through the world has led to an increasing number of tourists but have also make tourism and travel a highly competitive industry.
Today, throughout the western world, tourism companies as well as traveling agencies find themselves in the middle of significant, often contradicting concerns on the part of customers, ranging fro environmental concerns to fears of criminal activities at many destinations. The woes of the travel industry have further increases as a result of declining margins and ever higher oil prices every year that increase the expense of traveling.
The basic theme behind most travel logos is to represent the tourist activities available at the destination. For instance, a travel company advertising sandy beach resorts in Phuket, Thailand or in Cost Rica, is likely to depict a surf board or include a symbol representing the sun or waves.
Colors in most travel logos are closely linked to the location and the most popular colors include green, red, indigo as well as blue. Fonts of travel logos are intended to be in line with the cultural and ethnic background of the region. Even so, there are no set rules regarding the font in travel logos.
