Design Matters – A Book Review
It is often difficult to define exactly what a logo is and what it is supposed to look like. On top of this is the dilemma of just how important logo design is for a company. These issues are well documented and explained in the book Design Matters, Logos.
This book is a must read for anyone interested in branding his or her own company or doing so for someone else. It is an extremely readable book and does a great job at answering questions such as why logos are created in the first place. It is for anyone and everyone who is concerned about branding.
One of the issues often found is that many small companies expect them to do the job for them. While it is true that all successful brands rely on company logos, it is to be understood that a successful business is run by making smart decisions and advertising in the optimum way. If you do not advertise and market the logo enough, its not going to do your business any good at all. It is there to boost consumer perception of your business, as this book quite rightly explains.
Design Matters is spread in several parts. It starts with giving information on the logo and its role in building brands. It then moves to the planning arena and from there on the case studies where logo design helped companies successfully develop their brands. The book offers all the information needed by anyone really interested in successfully branding.
