The Dearth of Original Logo Designs and its Implications
A logo is usually intended to be a visual character that represents the integrity and value of companies. As such, it is quite disappointing to find out that your logo is really not what you wanted it to be, a copy of someone else’s corporate identity.
Ever since logos were singled out fro their role in brand building, companies across industries and levels have sought to have their own unique logos to market themselves. Given the large number of logo designs already out there, it is often difficult to design totally original logos.
At the same time, professional logo designers have kept up with the time and use their expertise on new and more sophisticated software that offer more design possibilities than ever before. On the other hand, the jump in stolen and illegally copied logos has also risen remarkably over the last decade.
This is one of the biggest concerns related to online logo services. Many of these companies posing as well established designers are a couple of amateurs using clip art and other tools that seriously undermine originality. On the other hand, professional companies have kept up with the times and added several Quality Control measures to ensure the originality of their logo design
By violating copyright regulations and using a logo that is already in the market, designers and therefore their clients risk serious implications including being sued.
