At the Top of Design World – A Look at the life of Paul Rand
Paul Rand, or Peretz Rosenbaum was born in the year 1914. He is arguably the greatest graphic designer in modern times and is related to some of the best designs of the last century. Some of his best works include the IBM logo, the new UPS logo as well as logos for ABC, Westinghouse, Enron and Yale University Press. He succeeded in building his name as an artist, designer, visionary as well as a sophist.
Paul was a passionate artist and took art classes in the night while going to high school in the morning. His love fro designing corporate identity was soon rewarded and achieved fame throughout the design world while he was still in his 20s.
Over the years he received enormous praise for his designs. His work was on display in museums from Stockholm to New York and Paris to London. Eventually, Paul Rand started a teaching career at the Cooper Union and then to Yale University.
Several graphic design books have been published under his name. One of them, Thoughts on Design, arguably includes some of the best words ever spoken about graphic designing.
The legend past away in 1996 and was suffering from cancer. He was often termed the best designer by the best among those involved in designer industry.
