A Guide to What Goes into a Logo
The basic parts of a logo include symbols, signs as well as emblem combined with a slogan. All of these aspects of a logo add artistic value to the final design. Having a consistent style when choosing these ingredients is the key to a great logo design.
A symbol plays a crucial role when it comes to attracting customer attention to the logo. It is also expected to give some indication (in an exciting and inspiration way) about the products and services offered by a company. At the same time it does an important job by being the most recognizable part of a company’s brand.
The sign is supposed to be an artistic expression of the logo and rides on the creativity of the designer. It is also supposed to indicate the achievements of a business and where it intends to head, for instance forward thinking and future.
An emblem on the other hand, is also a popular choice for companies to put in their logo. Typically, it is a graphical visualization that gives indication of quality as well as class. It also acts by adding authority and vis-à-vis credibility to a company’s brand.
A good slogan is an important part of an effective logo. Although not used as part of the logo every
time, a tagline or slogan adds a metaphorical approach to the company’s identity making the logo and thereby the company and its products more desirable in most cases.
